Fall 2006 Prada

The thing is we really like Miuccia Prada. We love her sense of line and proportion, the ideas that she comes up, and the influence she has others in her industry. So we know that some of you (and believe me we read the comments as well, so you know who we are talking about) are going to dismiss this collection with a “ughh ugly skinny models” “they look stupid with those helmets on”, and my favorite “somebody please those boys a cheeseburger”. The was so much going on in the Prada showroom with all the monitors along the walls playing an endless series of messages it was almost hard to see the message of “Men at War” that Miuccia was sending down. One only has to see the collections up close to really get the appreciation of the work that goes into each garment. Trousers that end above the ankle that button up, zippers on the back of pant legs, military details in the form of quilted elbows and padding. As for the helmets, well lets just say we haven’t wanted to try riding a scooter this badly since that episode in season one of Laguna Beach where LC and Lo decided they both needed scooters just because the helmets were cute. We know. We’re shallow and vapid.
