This past weekend, the Grabby’s invaded Chicago, which is to say that all the best cocks and holes in the world were concentrated in one location. It’s a surprise there wasn’t a giant sinkhole by Lake Michigan. The Grabbys, as you might imagine, are like the Oscars for gay porn. Unlike the Oscars, however, the Grabbys are actually a fuckin’ blast.
The evening’s big winners were Cockyboys and Naked Sword, who both took home four awards. Cockyboys won big for Project GoGoBoy. Project GoGoBoy won Best Director (Jake Jackson), Movie of the Year, SteamWork’s Fan Favorite Movie, and Newcomer of the Year (Max Ryder, star of Project GoGoBoy). Less than a year after Rocco Reed made the switch to gay porn, he has announced his retirement from the adult film industry. AVN made the announcement last Friday, immediately following the release of what might be Rocco’s last Men.com scene.
Before he became an adult film actor, Reed tried his hand at mainstream acting, and did a fairly hefty amount of work for HBO. He also did some runway modeling for clients like Structure, MEK, Armani, and Calvin Klein (who obviously has a thing for former porn actors). Maybe Rocco is announcing his retirement so that he can return to the runway? Obviously we’re secretly hoping that this is just a publicity stunt and we can see him bottom again and again and again. If last week’s Cristo’ Cleer post is any indication, sometimes porn stars should just steer clear of the music industry. After all, Cristo’s beats weren’t dropping our panties nearly as much as his abs. Nonetheless, porn-actor-turned-“musician” appears to be a pretty common title showing up on business cards these days. In response — and also because many of these tracks are gems in their own strange way — we’ve compiled a quick overview of porn’s major music makers. The tracks may not cream your coffee quite the way that the actors themselves do, but the phenomenon is too extensive to be ignored.
It looks like Aaron Savvy — also known as Sean Cody’s Ajay — has dabbled in the music industry under the name Cristo’ Cleer. According to the bio on his Myspace page (Does anyone even still use Myspace?), he’s been produced by Roger Fischer of the band Heart. Which is actually a pretty big deal. Though if we’re being honest, with track names like “Cruisin,” “Lose Yourself,” and “Psychedelic,” we’re not totally shocked to learn that Aaron Savvy’s trance career appears to be pretty well defunct.

Several months ago, at the height of his fame, Jake Genesis suddenly deleted his twitter account and left the porn industry. Jake — who has always been open about his Catholicism — cited his religious beliefs as the primary reason for his departure from the industry. This decision comes as a bit of a surprise given that he’s shot scenes with a ton of big name studios since his debut, including Raging Stallion, Men at Play, and Lucas Entertainment.
It’s been several months since Jake left the industry, but he’s still slated to appear in Lucas Entertainment’s Original Sinners, the first part of which premiered last week. Knight’s death comes on the heels of his partner’s suicide on February 21st. In the past few days, Wilfried penned a number of gut-wrenching blog posts, which can be found at his blog, www.wilfried-knight.net. Take some time today to remember and honor Wilfried’s work.

We’re really at a loss, readers. At least one member of Team QC was personal friends with Wilfried, and as a community we’re devastated by this news. Frankly, we’re tired of bringing you sad news like this, and not just within the porn industry. When will we be able to start having effective, productive conversations about depression within the LGBT community? Of course there’s love and support in the LGBT community, and especially in places like QueerClick, and we’re very grateful for it. But doesn’t it feel stretched a little thin when constantly invoked in the shadow of tragedies like this?
Rest in Peace, Wilfried. You are terribly missed. May you find the peace you were looking for.
