“Permanent Residence” Sean Li nominated at the 10th Chinese Film Media Awards

It’s the 10th anniversary of Chinese Film Media Awards! Coming Monday, Chinese Film Media Awards will officially announce the list of nominees together with details of their 10th anniversary celebrations and fringe activities. From an early sneak at the list of nominees, the judges seem to be very supportive of works from Hong Kong and Taiwan. From the categories of Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Actress, films from both Hong Kong and Taiwan took up 16 out of the 27 nominations. Films from mainland China took up only 40 percent of the nominations.
Sean Li started as a model, and was first spotted in the gay film director Scud’s “City Without Baseball,” in which he had a guest role as a bar waiter. “Permanent Residence” was his next work with Scud, and he was promoted to play as a gay male protagonist who is a devoted lover that has a curious interest with death. In the movie, Sean had a lot naked scenes, his delicate performances and lean physique attracted a lot of attention from fans and critics. A heterosexual in real life, Sean Li explained, “I feel that the character in the movie is someone that is very different from me, therefore I will only focus on playing the role well. My family and my girlfriend have only been very supportive.”
Here’s why we think Sean is being nominated: As a new actor, Sean Li has displayed his acute ability to command his performance and his mature interpretation of the character. His acting is balanced and not over dramatic. Although the role seems monotonous on the surface, the character needed him to dig in and express the complicated and ever changing emotions. All these are very demanding on a new actor but Sean had excelled.

Taiwanese movie “Monga” has made gays a trend topic!

“Monga” movie plot summary: When new transfer student Mosquito (Mark Chao) is bullied at school over his lunch box, he’s taken under the wing of the so-called Temple Front gang, led by handsome Dragon (Eurasian thespian Rhydian Vaughan), son of vet gang boss Geta (JuLung Ma). Other Temple Frontiers include Dragon’s deputy and childhood pal, Monk (Ethan Ruan), butcher’s son A-po, and fighter Monkey. With the addition of Mosquito, the Prince Gang was formed. Dragon is born with a golden spoon in his mouth and has always been protected by Monk since he was young. Monk was there to help him answer his test questions, to help him clear any trouble that he created, to scrub his back when showering. Just name any situation and Monk will be by Dragon’s side. The five then plunge into being full-time gangsters with the quintet undergoing martial arts training. But the relationship between the five brothers deteriorated. Monk bears all the blame for the troubles caused by Dragon, and is even prepared to compromise his personal safety to keep Dragon alive. He is there to comfort Dragon when Dragon’s father passed away and is there to bring Dragon to a hideout to tide over the chaotic period. And even at the end when Dragon plunged a knife into Monk, Monk howled in despair, “But I did all these only for you!”
Being the movie to succeed “Cape No. 7” as a wholly Taiwan produced movie, “Monga” combines a number of classic elements of a Taiwanese film: the sentiments of a teen flick, the blood of a gangster film, the ambiguity relationship within a gay film, and the heart wrenching moments of a tragic love movie. And no other elements attracted more eyeballs than the “Brokeback Mountain” relationship that was portrayed in the movie. During the casts’ participation in variety shows for the film’s publicity, the handsome hunks Rhydian, Ethan and Mark actually kissed on scene! This definitely aroused the curiosity of a huge audience. With an intense publicity act, the film raked in about 60 million NT in its first week of screening. What’s more, it defeated “Avatar” to be the top grossing movie of the week, and broke the Taiwan box office records for a movie’s opening week.
Now, would like to see these guys kiss?

Marco Yang got his dick “adjusted” in public

Marco Yang explores the wilderness in Taiwan’s GTV show “World’s Number One”. In one recent episode where Marco attempts to follow the local custom, he ended up having his dick adjusted by a Indonesian aboriginal native whom he has just met moments ago. On top of that, Marco ate various unknown insects, only to get severely sick back in Taiwan, causing him to miss the Lunar New Year’s delicacies. Tears of frustration just rolled down his face.
In the episode, the production team visited the Dani tribe located at Indonesia’s Papua island. Being extremely primitive, the aboriginal’s ethnic clothing only covered their privates. Marco then took up the challenge to wear the aboriginal men’s “dick wrapper”. He stood naked in a small shelter with two aboriginals “assistants”. “The lower half of my body is being man-handled till it doesn’t seem like mine anymore,” commented Marco.
The “dick wrapper” is made from a dried gourd. Other than wrapping the dick, one other requirement is to stuff one of one’s balls in it too. Exclaimed Marco, “No one else has seen and touched my dick other than my mum who had to change my diapers!” Local Dani boys have to wear the appendage from the age of eight, and have it replaced once every five years. Although the chief assured that adorning the wrapper will not affect the usual function and response of a man’s tool, Marco thought otherwise because “it’s actually rather painful.”
And finally, the following is a segment from the episode of “World’s Number One”.

Mike He and Joseph Zheng

Being past school mates, and having working as models together under the same model agency, the relationship between Taiwan actors Joseph Zheng and Mike He has always been rumored as “atypical”. Both of them appeared yesterday at a Taiwan press conference after their trip to India for World Vision. With Ricky Martin’s recent coming out still on everyone’s mind, the media grasped this opportunity to coax something out of the pair of them. Stating that Ricky Martin fathered two children with a surrogate mother two years ago and relating it to the pair’s experience helping poor children in India, a reporter asked the pair of them if they have ever considered having children of their own. To that, Mike became hostile and chided, “What lousy question is that?” On the other hand, Joseph only replied post-conference. He said plainly, “I’ve never thought of (having children) before.”
The media’s attempt to out Mike and Joseph has unfortunately failed.
